KM is a single mother caring for four children, including children with significant additional needs. After surviving domestic and family violence, she continues to do everything she can to keep her family safe, stable and together. She has no practical or financial support from the children’s fathers and limited support in Canberra during times of crisis.
KM is managing her own health challenges, including autism and recent surgery, while home-schooling her youngest child, who has severe autism and social anxiety and needs constant care. This makes regular work difficult, and when KM cannot work, she does not get paid.
The family is now struggling to meet basic daily needs, particularly groceries, transport fuel and essential medications. KM is trying to manage rent and household expenses while applying for public housing, but the pressure is overwhelming. A grant would help the children have food, health care, stability and transport to essential long distance medical appointments.
