A couple in their early 50s are facing imminent risk of homelessness. Both are currently receiving the Disability Support Pension, and a serious car accident in December significantly reduced their capacity to earn any additional income.
They have now fallen more than $5,000 behind in rent, and despite making repayments, their DSP income alone is not sufficient to maintain their tenancy. With no family or alternative accommodation options available, the risk of eviction is high.
Compounding their financial stress, the client is managing ongoing repayments related to her father’s funeral, alongside rising living costs and essential expenses. These pressures have left little capacity to cover basic needs.
Grocery and pharmacy vouchers would provide immediate relief, helping the couple access food and essential medications while they work with support services to stabilise their housing situation. This support would ease daily stress
