Major flooding of the Thomson River at Longreach flooded several houses and businesses in March 2026. These houses and businesses are located along the Thomson River. All of these houses are high set and floodwater entered well above ground level.

One residence was a caravan which has been occupied by one resident for many years. The caravan was unable to be moved prior to the flood due to bogging black soil. The caravan and all the contents were completely destroyed by flooding.
