This man was diagnosed with cancer while working hard to build a new life in Australia. He arrived in Australia in 2018 and studied and worked consistently with his wife, recently obtaining provisional permanent residency. His diagnosis has placed significant emotional and financial strain on the family. His wife now balances paid work with caring responsibilities. They are eligible for Medicare; however, due to the skilled working visa conditions, they are not able to access Centrelink support. Despite these challenges, they continue to work hard to sustain daily living costs. The family is currently living in a low EER property, which is difficult to keep warm during winter and not ideal for his health while undergoing treatment.
