Couple in mid 80's - total loss due the Jan fires
2026 Victoria Bushfires
Married couple in their mid 80's living on a 10 acres block fire went through and burnt everything, house, personal effects, stock and other animals. PPR left as rubble and metal. Trying to self-manage clean up needs to save money taking a toll while dealing with other complex needs causing MH fatigue. Evacuated saving a caravan and two vehicles and their pet sheep returned days later. Temporary accommodation not sustainable, underinsured, relying on superannuation payments and 1-2 days casual work which means travel to Melbourne. Needs to continue working as will need to financially contribute as Insurance won't cover rebuild expense. Financial donations will be able to assist this couple to purchase basic needs.
