2026 Victoria Bushfires
Resident was majorly impacted financially and emotionally with the loss of his home, a historic museum and his pet dog. As the museum did not make an income resident has not been eligible to receive any grants or financial support. Centrelink would not assist as he could not provide profit and loss statements and has needed to close the business hoping Centrelink will review their decision. He has been fortunate enough to purchase another home outside the Strathbogie region 'he couldn't stay there it was too traumatising and relying on the small amount of insurance money left which has now run out needing to rely on loans from family and friends for basic needs. Resident is suffering PTSD from the loss of his pet dog, finding his beloved dog deceased burnt by the fires.
