Client is an Aboriginal man who has only recently been in trouble with the criminal justice system. He resides in transitional housing but struggles with mental health issues.
From what we can ascertain he has traumatic brain injury from his youth, suffered the loss of a child a couple of years ago from which he still traumatized. In addition, he tends to self-medicate with alcohol. His affect is labile, and he can be cooperative and grateful or can easily flip to being resistant and oppositional. His court matters tend to be on the lower scale of offending but are exacerbated by his noncompliance with appointments.
The team works with assisting with transport, interpreting legal material and helping him engage with referral agents.
His needs are basic and include food vouchers, transport cards (ACT) and clothing (more focused on colder weather).
Note, he recently twisted his ankle with substantial swelling, so he is seeking a mobility scooter (second hand).
