A 51-year-old Indigenous single mum and survivor of domestic violence is doing everything she can to keep her family afloat. Living in social housing and relying solely on a carer’s pension, she is barely surviving as rising rent, utilities and daily living costs exceed her income. She has two children aged 17 and 19. While her eldest lives separately, she remains closely involved, supporting her daughter through her own struggles. Her 17-year-old is autistic and in Year 11 on a school scholarship. This devoted mum regularly goes without meals so her child can have food and essentials. Despite immense hardship, she continues to show strength and resilience for her children. Any offers of support would make a meaningful difference to this family’s wellbeing and stability.
