Recipient story

Young people are falling through the cracks - they need driving lessons in order to reach independance.
GIVIT
Ready to Learn
Our crisis Accommodation Youth Refuges support young people between the ages of 16-25 who are experiencing homelessness and assist them to access stable housing and support services. Our refuges provided young people with a safe place to stay during housing crisis and a connection to support services. We’re currently supporting young people who are determined to improve their circumstances and improve their independence. We have several young people who are trying to gain their license. Unfortunately, the current programs that support young people with driving lessons fail to support those individuals who between 22 and 25 years of age. This means these young people have nil support available to them for driving lessons in order to gain their license and become independent young adults.
Our organisation is unable to pay for driving lessons for determined young people who are not eligible for other programs

How it's helped before

[We assisted] a woman who had four children in primary school this year, she shared that she was worried about ensuring they all had what they needed and felt equally included, so the [GIVIT donations] really helped to lift that concern. Some women brought their children with them [to collect donations] and faces just lit up as they chose their lunchboxes and backpacks and packed their pencil cases.
