This 15-year old person experienced homelessness after fleeing the family home due to family and domestic violence. Ongoing drug and alcohol use within the home environment left him feeling unsafe, resulting in him becoming completely disconnected from his extended family and support network. Despite these significant challenges, he has found a healthy coping strategy through fishing. Fishing provides him with a sense of safety, calm, and stability, and he spends most of his days by the water, regardless of the weather. It has become his safe place and an important source of comfort and resilience as he navigates his experience.
