Young person is about to turn 18, does not have a bed in the house nor various clothing, or a phone.
Following numerous interactions and outreach we were able to ascertain what our YP needs. On the last outreach upon arrival, YP was welcoming and expressed gratitude for the support. YP allowed workers into the home, where YW CN observed that YP’s bed was broken, with the slats split and the mattress sitting in a pronounced V shape. YP advised that this bed has been in use since childhood. YW CN also noted a limited amount of clothing available to YP. During the visit, YP disclosed that they had learned the previous day that their aunt has been diagnosed with cancer. YW CN sensitively raised the issue of the broken bed and asked YP for consent to explore support options, which YP agreed to. YP is currently going through a tough time and navigating as best as they could with mental health supports & appointments, actively looking for pathways in school, creating healthy boundaries with family and maintaining sobriety for the past 2 weeks as well as other traumas. -- Please help our YP.
