After years of couch surfing and unsafe temporary stays, this 53-year-old woman reached crisis point. Family breakdown, financial hardship, and worsening health left her without stable housing. Like many experiencing hidden homelessness, she “got by” until she no longer could. Ongoing anxiety, untreated mental health and chronic pain made work difficult, and without income or support she became trapped in an increasingly hard cycle.
With support, she has now secured a safe, long-term tenancy and is slowly rebuilding her life, but is moving in with almost no possessions. To support her wellbeing and independence, she urgently needs a fridge and microwave so she can store and prepare food safely.
These essential appliances will help create a stable, functional home and give her the dignity and security she deserves for the future. We hope to have them in place in time for Christmas to offer comfort during what can be a difficult season.
