This parent and young child have endured significant loss and trauma. The child, not even a teenager, has already experienced the heartbreaking loss of their father. They then lived through the devastating 2022 floods, where they were forced to wait on the roof while their parent was trapped in the roof cavity, both fearing for their lives in the middle of the night until help arrived.

These experiences have had an ongoing emotional impact, and the family now needs additional psychological support to help process the trauma and build stability moving forward. The child requires support from a psychologist with specialised training in ADHD, to ensure their emotional and developmental needs are properly understood and supported. While some psychology support may be available through Medicare, the gap fees and ADHD-informed support required are not covered and are unaffordable for the family. Assistance would help this family access the care they urgently need to heal and move forward.
