Ms C and her children moved to Australia in 2003 to join her husband who had already migrated and lived in the ACT.
She suffered history of extreme physical, emotional and psychological abuse from her husband of 30 years, from back in their home country and in Australia. After an incident where her husband tried to end her life, she finally found the courage to leave the relationship and move into emergency accommodation, and now currently in transitional accommodation.
She was injured in the workplace in 2010 and left that job without any understanding of potential entitlements. She did casual aged care work after that but soon left around 2021 due to elevated levels of stress and ongoing health conditions that impact her functional capacity. She recently submitted Centrelink Disability Support Pension application and awaiting outcome.
Any help with grocery vouchers will help alleviate financial stress.
