Born with sickle cell anaemia, she lives with chronic, unpredictable pain. An electric wheelchair is her lifeline; taxi-lift trips are costly when you live alone and pay every bill yourself. Cold days make everything worse. Most mornings start with medication at 8:00 am; most nights end with sleeping pills and the hope for a calmer tomorrow.
She’s waiting for surgery that may restore some mobility. Life feels small and lonely—too many hours indoors, her phone for company—but she’s determined to stay active. She’s ready to start with volunteer work and, long-term, hopes for a call-centre or office role where she can contribute and belong.
