Recipient story

Resilient Aboriginal grandmother supporting two grandchildren, prioritising their wellbeing over her own daily needs
GIVIT
A devoted grandmother is caring full‑time for her two grandchildren, filling her small three‑bedroom home with love, stability, and cultural connection. Living on her pension plus working a casual job to make ends meet, she stretches every dollar to cover food, bills, and the extra costs of special dietary needs. With the rising cost of living and increasing food prices, she faces daily difficulties — choosing between essentials, managing growing appetites, and trying to keep the household running on very limited means.
Despite these challenges, she remains the family’s matriarch, the steady presence her grandchildren rely on for comfort, guidance, and belonging. Her commitment reflects deep cultural values of kinship and responsibility. Supporting her is more than financial relief; it is an investment in the wellbeing of six children and the grandmother whose strength holds them together
