Recipient story

Single Dad Escaped FDV Needs Autism Support for Son
Domestic & Family Violence
First Nations Support
This single father has experienced homelessness while raising his five children on his own after leaving a domestic violence situation perpetrated by the children’s mother. Following this difficult period, dad and his children faced significant hardship and instability before he was able to regain employment and begin rebuilding their lives.
Dad is now working hard to provide a safe and stable future for his children while managing all parenting responsibilities alone. His youngest son, aged 5, has been diagnosed with Level 3 Autism and requires a high level of support. The family is currently at the final stage of the assessment process, with a psychology assessment still needed to complete his diagnosis and allow access to vital supports and services.
As a sole parent carrying these responsibilities alone, dad is seeking assistance to help cover the costs associated with his son’s assessment and ongoing needs.
