Recipient story

This new Afghan family arrived in Canberra recently.
Other hardship(s)
This newly arrived Afghan family of seven is experiencing significant financial hardship. Both parents are currently unemployed and have very low affordability, making it difficult to meet their children’s basic needs. The family has five children aged 4, 7, 8, 12, and 15. School has recently started, and the school is located close to their home, making bicycles a safe and practical way for the children to travel independently and participate in daily activities. Due to their financial situation, the parents are unable to purchase bicycles themselves. Support through a Kmart voucher is requested so the case worker can purchase appropriate bicycles for the children, supporting their independence, school attendance, and social inclusion.
