Elderly lady experiencing financial hardship and family domestic violence
Domestic & Family Violence
Our client is an 80 year old lady with a long history financial hardship, trauma and disadvantage. She has proudly raised her 2 grandchildren into young adulthood after taking over their care from infancy. Domestic violence has been an ongoing issue, which has escalated recently after a threatening incident with a family member, leaving our client fearful of answering her front door or going into town on her own. Living in community housing and without access to a car, our client pays $40 for the return trip to town in a taxi to complete her shopping. Significant and increasing stress is being experienced due financial and family issues, as well as social isolation impacting on her health and wellbeing. We are seeking support with grocery vouchers to ease financial pressure and to give back to a lady who has spent her lifetime supporting others.
