Recipient story

Mother and two teenage daughters rebuilding after fleeing severe DFV, now navigating homelessness and isolation
First Nations Support
Other hardship(s)
Domestic & Family Violence
An Aboriginal mother and her two teenage daughters were forced to flee interstate due to extensive domestic and family violence, leaving behind their home, supports, and sense of stability. The family are now residing in supported accommodation while working hard to rebuild their lives in safety.
The transition has been incredibly challenging for the family, particularly the teenage daughters who are trying to maintain schooling, cultural connection, social relationships, and a sense of normalcy while recovering from significant trauma and displacement. One daughter currently does not have access to a mobile phone, creating barriers to communication with her mother, accessing supports, maintaining safety, and navigating public transport independently.
The family continue to show incredible strength and resilience as they rebuild their future. Support from the community would assist in easing some of the immediate pressures they are facing and help the family work toward stability.
