Domestic & Family Violence
Other hardship(s)
My client is currently residing in Transitional Housing, after having been forced to leave the family home following an incident between her family and her new partner. My client was born in Samoa and comes from a family with strong cultural expectations. Her partner was not accepted into the family, due to these expectations there was ongoing conflict resulting in my client entering the homelessness system. My client currently does not have an income due to being unemployed and unable to apply for Centrelink as she is not an Australian Citizen. She is having to wait out the 10 year exclusion period which expires in March 2027. We all desire to have some basic comforts in our life and not having the means to do so impacts upon our wellbeing. My client is actively working towards moving forward with her life and has been a positive role model to the other young women that she is currently sharing housing with.
