Family is in hardship due to the dad being an inpatient at a mental health facility and 9 yr old son with cancer.

The father has severe complex mental health issues due to serving in the war in Afghanistan. He is currently an inpatient at a mental health facility and has not been able to work. He is the only income earner in the home, and their 9-year-old has recently been diagnosed with cancer. They are not yet sure if they qualify for any Centrelink benefits, and they are struggling. Mum is home with the 3 young children and navigating the care for her sick child as well as trying to provide for them all.
