Single father, total loss of house, belongings, shed, machinery for himself and 9 yo son. Only house insured all shed, machinery and equipment not covered. Evacuated with bare minimum. 9-year-old was initially showing signs of trauma through emotional outbursts but has since stopped. Supported by the school. Both took time to process the loss. Recently lost his job of 4 years as struggled to be ‘present’ in the complex role. Currently relying on savings while living in temporary accommodation in St Kilda funded by insurer. Fuel expenses impacting recovery process at the PPR due to need to travel from St Kilda. Physical, mental and emotional exhaustion navigating recovery needs while living in a completely different environment than his town in Ghin Ghin. Added stress of needing to seek new employment.
