A chronically ill Indigenous man who experiences severe physical and mental health challenges after losing everything in the 2022 floods, which destroyed his home, stability, and community connections.
His health has continued to decline, requiring ongoing treatments, medications, and medical equipment. While finally travelling to his forever home, he was involved in a car accident through no fault of his own after hitting a cow. The accident damaged his four‑wheel walker, which is now unusable. He relies on this walker to mobilise and to carry his oxygen tank and medical equipment. He urgently needs assistance to replace essential mobility equipment and maintain his health and safety and allow him to access community independently.
Unfortunately NDIS deem his conditions medical rather than disability related, which further limits his access to accessing the assistance and technology he so urgently requires.
