Aboriginal Grandfather exiting homelessness into long-term housing
First Nations Support
Client became homeless when his son became unwell. His son experienced a mental health crisis and committed violence against him, who fled the family home but did not abandon his son. Slowly his son has stabilised, stopped drinking and connected with mental health supports. He has been caregiving for his son, daughter, and granddaughter despite living in crisis accommodation. He has been offered a long-term term home and needs help to set it up so that he can continue to be a good dad, grandad, and heal from the trauma of the past. Once he is on his feet, he will go back to work in the construction industry.
