This CALD family consists of a single mother and her two young children, both with high support needs and NDIS plans. The family is currently in the process of restoration, with the children transitioning back into their mother’s care following a period of separation. This transition is emotionally challenging for the children, who experience difficulty with emotional regulation, change, and transitions.
The mother is committed to supporting her children’s wellbeing but faces cultural and systemic barriers. Sensory activities and resources are required to assist the children to self‑regulate, reduce distress, and feel safe during this transition. Access to appropriate sensory supports will promote emotional stability, strengthen attachment, and support a successful restoration into the family home.
