Driving Lessons

Client is seeking support for driving lessons to help her obtain her probationary license. She has been unable to attend lessons in the past due to family violence, which significantly disrupted her ability to learn. She now has a safe window of opportunity to resume lessons while her husband is excluded from the home due to the intervention order. A license would make a difference to her daily life. She is the primary carer for five children and currently struggles to manage their needs using public transport. She also experiences severe back pain as a result of family‑violence‑related injuries, which makes long trips on public transport extremely difficult. Driving lessons would give her the independence to transport her children safely, attend essential appointments, and rebuild stability for her family. Any support toward lessons would have a direct and lasting impact on her wellbeing and her children’s wellbeing.

Domestic & Family Violence
Client has been experiencing family violence from her partner. She has custody of her 5 children and is unable to provide financially for them as she faces multiple health challenges hindering possibility of consistent employment. Client is a new arrival in Australia and faces isolation from support, has limited social networks and limited English skills. With these barriers, she is unable to gain employment, is reliant on the abusive partner for financial support for her children and herself which enables the abuse.
