15 yr old young person, currently homeless, miles away from family and friends. Despite experiencing significant adversity throughout his childhood and adolescence, this young person has continued to demonstrate remarkable resilience, maturity, kindness, and hope for his future. Throughout much of his life, he has carried responsibilities well beyond what should be expected of a young person, including caring roles for himself, his younger siblings, older siblings, and his mother.
The young person has been exposed to significant family adversity, including witnessing extreme violence and substance use. These experiences have impacted his sense of normality and have meant that many ordinary childhood and teenage experiences have not been available to him. Simple things such as going shopping, choosing new clothes, buying art supplies, getting headphones, or having items that are just for him have been limited or taken away due to the circumstances he has had to live through.
