This gentleman lost his rental home and all possessions due to the Jan 2026 bushfires. He had been happy living up in the hills in a modest rented home which he had lived in for over ten years. He loved living rurally in the peace and quiet and was generally quite happy keeping to himself. Unfortunately, the bushfire took everything from him including clothes, whitegoods and electronics, furniture, bedding, books, CD collection, DVD collection, tools and hardware. He is extremely grateful to have got out safely, but life has been turned upside down. He is really looking forward to getting back on his feet, but it is going to take time. As a single person, he wasn't able to find another rental that he could afford, but eventually secured rental of a second hand caravan on a farm block. The caravan was in disrepair and not viable for the long term, especially as winter came on.
Luckily he has now been offered a public housing unit which he is hoping to move into soon.
