2025 Tropical Cyclone Alfred
Single parent living with her two young children. During Tropical Cyclone Alfred in March 2025, her property sustained significant damage after approximately 560mm of rainfall fell within a matter of hours. Intense flooding inundated the property causing extensive damage to the home including a significant issue of water pooling beneath the property due to severe ground degradation and erosion caused directly by the floodwaters. Repairs to this are critical to the overall safety and stability of the home.
The ongoing pooling water has resulted in erosion of the ground underneath the dwelling, contributing to persistent moisture issues. While mould remediation works have been approved, the underlying cause is the unresolved water beneath the home. As such, these drainage and stabilisation issues must be addressed prior to any other works being done. The mould growth presents a serious risk to the families health.
