A community member living with a disability has experienced significant hardship including dv, homelessness & housing instability. Following these challenges she worked hard to rebuild her life & establish a safe & stable home. Shortly after rebuilding the property was impacted by a severe rat infestation that persisted for approx 12mths while awaiting assessment & treatment through DOH. The infestation caused extensive damage to furniture, bedding, curtains, clothing. During this period, her washing machine failed. She has now been without a washing machine for 7mths significantly impacting health, hygiene & daily living. The prolonged infestation, loss of items, ongoing financial hardship & disability-related challenges have had a significant impact on her wellbeing & mental health. The property has now been declared rat-free & she is working to rebuild once again. Support is sought for a washing machine, sofa, bedding, curtains & basic clothing to restore dignity & stability.
