Financial Assistance - Grandfather raising 5 week old grandson

Our client is having to be financially responsible for his 5 week old grandson as his son had a mental breakdown and was sectioned to the psychiatric unit due to severe PTSD. As this all happened within the first 2 weeks of the babies life, his son hasn't been able to apply for Centrelink so the grandfather has been paying for his grandchild out of his pension. The grandfather does not want to take guardianship of his grandson only as a last option and he hopes his son will recover soon. Grandfather needs financial help to get babies necessities and for food for himself. Please help.
