Survivor of childhood sexual assault, domestic violence, homelessness, 2022 northern rivers floods, and suicide.
Flooding 2022
Domestic & Family Violence
A survivor of childhood sexual assault that resulted in Complex PTSD. This resulted in a lifetime of pain and suffering. 20 years ago, they tried to take their own life, by overdosing, tragically the house caught on fire while they were inside which resulted in burns to 70% of their body. This leaves them with permanent physical scars to their body, that exacerbates the emotional scars they live with daily. They have experienced periods of homelessness due to their mental health as well as being vulnerable to abuse within intimate partnerships. After all this, they were impacted by the 2022 floods that tore through the northern rivers of NSW. This person relies solely on the DSP which barely covers her rent and food expenses. This person has just moved into their own rental property and has their own space for the first time in 20 years after years of homelessness and temporary accommodation after the floods. It would be great to provide her with vouches to purchase household items.
