A single mum of three was unable to afford the rent at their apartment and as a result has become homeless. The family of four have been living in emergency accommodation since April and are experiencing hardship. The eldest son is 16 and has begun part-time work. However, they are not able to afford his basic work kit, including work boots (which alone are $200).
The part-time job has provided this young person with a sense of fulfilment; he just needs the basics that most people are able to access themselves to be able to maintain his job. His mum is very proud of him and wants to do whatever she can to support him, however she cannot afford his work kit.
