The client is a survivor of domestic and family violence and is currently not employed due to her caring responsibilities for her 7-year-old son. She is the primary carer and receives Centrelink as her only source of income; however, this payment is insufficient to meet essential living costs, including rent, utilities, food, and transport.
Her son attends school, and the client is motivated to improve her circumstances by enrolling in TAFE to build skills and work toward future employment. Unfortunately, ongoing financial stress is a significant barrier to her ability to study and stabilise her situation.
The client is also experiencing mental health challenges related to trauma and is actively engaged with a psychologist for ongoing support. These combined pressures have had a substantial impact on her wellbeing and daily functioning. Short-term assistance with rent and access to vouchers would provide immediate stability.
