This elderly woman was renting when floodwaters tore through her home, leaving her homeless and struggling to make ends meet. With no contents insurance and only limited government assistance available, recovery has been incredibly difficult. Since then, she has faced immense challenges, navigating uncertainty, loss and the emotional toll of starting over with very little support.
Despite everything she has endured, she has continued to show incredible resilience and strength while walking a very hard path on her own.
She has now been given an opportunity for a fresh start in secure housing — a chance to finally rebuild with some stability and safety around her. However, she is starting again with nothing.
We are sharing her story to help remind her that she is seen, supported and not alone as she begins this next chapter.
