During the Walwa Bushfires, a couple lost their primary place of residence, being house and all furniture and clothing.
2026 Victoria Bushfires
As a consequence of the 2016 Walwa-River Road Bushfires, a couple lost their house and all personal positions. They are currently living in a shed on the house site, and winter is approaching. Asbestos has been found in the ruins and although the couple are prepared to risk their own health. However, they must take into consideration the safety of their two-year old granddaughter whom they care for two days a week, so they are looking to move into a rental property. They therefore need to refurnish a house for themselves and their granddaughter. They live remotely; 30kms from the nearest town where they hope to rent a house. Both parties are only able to work part-time.
