The consumer is an older person living alone and although their home was not physically damaged during the bushfire event, however the surrounds were. The stress caused by the disaster has had an ongoing impact on their wellbeing and financial stability. Just before the event, the consumer was diagnosed with a medical condition requiring surgery and ongoing treatment, and with the bushfire event, has placed additional pressure on their already limited finances. The consumer relies solely on Centrelink benefits as their source of income and is struggling to meet everyday living expenses due to repair costs. Living alone also means the consumer has no immediate household support to assist with transport, daily care, or financial contributions. Financial aid would provide essential support to help the consumer manage living expenses during this difficult period.
