Fleeing war, rebuilding in Canberra — help her learn, work, and heal

She left North Sudan with her parents to escape the war and start again in safety. Now in Canberra, she’s doing everything she can to rebuild—working casual housekeeping shifts that fluctuate each fortnight, studying English at CIT, and seeking chances to grow. She completed a Certificate III in Individual Support and received warm feedback on placement, but the hours aren’t steady and the costs of starting over keep piling up. Trauma lingers, and some days are heavier than others, yet she keeps showing up—open, motivated, and determined to make a new life.
Practical support right now would change what’s possible. A simple laptop would let her study, apply for jobs, and stay connected. A sewing machine would help her join the community program she’s registered for and turn new skills into income. Essential female hygiene products would restore dignity during a tight season.
