Elderly couple affected by January 2026 bushfire, needed to evacuate and on their return home their property had sustained fencing damage. This elderly couple were dairy farmers when they were younger, however, now they lease the farm out, however, still live on the property, and they were responsible for repairs to the fences. An application was submitted for emergency hardship payment in February; however, it seems to have fallen between the cracks, and they haven’t received any financial assistance. This payment would have greatly helped with fence repairs; however, they have had to pay on their own.
