Sole provider with a high-needs child, recovering from surgery—please help him keep going
GIVIT
He’s been in Australia since 2012 and has spent over a decade in retail, doing his best to provide for his wife, a 14-year-old daughter, and a 3-year-old son with cerebral palsy who needs high-level care. After hernia surgery in June, he can’t lift more than 10kg. His hours were cut, and he’s now on the tills, exhausted after every shift and worried he’s falling behind. The pressure of rent, bills, and his little boy’s ongoing care—nappies alone cost around $100 a month—has left him overwhelmed and depressed, but still determined.
He wants to move into steadier, less physical work—he holds a security licence and is actively preparing to transition—so he can support his family without destroying his health. A little kindness right now would ease a heavy season, restore some breathing room, and help a devoted dad take the next step toward safer, sustainable work and dignity for his family. Thank you.
