The client is a victim-survivor of sexual assault who was forced to flee her home due to significant safety concerns following the incident. In order to relocate and meet immediate living expenses, the client sold the majority of her larger household items and whitegoods. This decision was made out of necessity to prioritise her safety and wellbeing during a highly traumatic and distressing period.

Due to the current housing crisis and limited availability of alternative accommodation, the client has since been required to return to her property. Unfortunately, she has been advised that she is ineligible for a range of housing and financial assistance programs because she is considered housed, and leaving her property again would be viewed as creating her own homelessness. In addition, other avenues of support have been declined due to the assault occurring outside of an intimate partner relationship, leaving the client with very limited options for assistance.
