Recipient story

To support single mother of three children. One child has a disability and requires attendance with support services
Other hardship(s)
Domestic & Family Violence
Our service is currently supporting a family; mother and three children aged between 6 and 13 years of age. The family escaped a domestic violent situation and are currently living in transitional housing, with an expectation that they will move to private rental accommodation. One of the children is currently being assessed for a disability and this requires a number of specialists appointments. Another one of the children is being assessed for a medical issue and requires ongoing appointments and tests. The mother is struggling to meet the needs of the children for food, medical and housing costs. This is having an impact on the mother's emotional well-being as she herself is in the process of trying to heal from the past trauma she has experienced from domestic violence. Having some extra financial assistance would alleviate some of the current stressors occurring in the household and support the children with their basic needs being met.

How it's helped before

I am writing to personally thank 'GIVIT' for a generous 'Simply Groceries eGift card' voucher that I was gifted, with $100 worth of essential spending money for my family & I to utilise at our own discretion. I can happily report this donation has assisted the purchase of a basic, solo, wifi security camera, with the excess going toward food for my teenage daughter who is currently taken on responsibilities around our home while I recover in a rehabilitation centre. Thank you for this kind gesture, as it has helped to improve security measures around our home & support my daughter to purchase daily essential items such as groceries, basic hygiene & cleaning products.

Thank you for your generous gesture & much needed support GIVIT.
