Single mother in evacuation area of 2026 Victorian bushfire needed to evacuate and seek shelter in a motel with young child. This single mum is on Centrelink benefits and had to pay for motel accommodation and on her return, home found her property had been without power for days and she lost all contents of her fridge and freezer. As a result, in spending extra money on accommodation, she can't now afford to replace the lost food.
