Single mother living with 2 children
The client is a single mother residing with her two young children: a newborn and a three-year-old son. The family is currently engaged with the Early Intervention Case Management Program due to an increased risk of homelessness. The client sought support due to rental arrears and ongoing tenancy instability. Although she receives the Single Parenting Payment, Family Tax Benefit Parts A and B, and Rent Assistance through Centrelink, her income remains insufficient to meet essential living expenses and maintain financial stability. Following a recent relationship breakdown, the client experienced a significant reduction in income and is now solely responsible for all rent and household expenses, further exacerbating her financial hardship. The children’s father has indicated a willingness to provide financial support, and discussions are ongoing to establish a suitable arrangement; however, this support is not yet formalised or consistent.
