Recipient story
After enduring a domestic violence relationship for many years this 40 year old indigenous woman was trying to improve her life and living conditions when she was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in February 2026. Her washing machine recently broke and she finds herself unable to afford to purchase a new one. While only receiving centrelink benefits and too unwell to be employed, she is currently receiving weekly cancer treatment at the closest treatment centre in Albany which is a round trip of roughly 300kms each week. With the cost of living and fuel prices in regional WA increasingly high she is struggling to purchase a new washing machine as second hand ones are not readily available.
