Domestic & Family Violence
This space is used by children and young people who have experienced family and domestic violence and are living in refuge accommodation with their parent or caregiver. Many arrive having experienced significant trauma, instability and loss, often leaving behind their belongings, support networks and sense of security.
The counselling room and play area provide a safe environment where children can express emotions, build confidence, engage in therapeutic support and simply enjoy being children. For many, these spaces offer opportunities for play, creativity and positive experiences that may have been limited by the violence and challenges they have experienced.
The current environment is outdated and no longer reflects the warmth, safety and comfort these children deserve. A welcoming and engaging space can help children feel valued, supported and secure while they begin to heal and rebuild their lives following family violence.
