They require a reliable fridge to safely store food and medications, and a washing machine to manage daily laundry needs, particularly given the children’s high care requirements. A television is needed to support the children’s regulation, learning and routine, as both have significant disabilities and benefit from structured downtime. They also require basic kitchen essentials including cookware, dinnerware and cutlery to prepare and share meals together. These foundational items will help create stability, routine and a sense of normalcy as they rebuild their lives.

This 39-year-old Aboriginal mother has made the courageous decision to leave a violent relationship to ensure the safety of herself and her two young children. The family has experienced significant trauma and are now rebuilding their lives in a safe environment.
Both children live with major disabilities and require high levels of daily care and support. Managing their complex needs while recovering from the impact of domestic violence has been incredibly challenging. The transition to safety has meant leaving behind most personal belongings and starting again with very limited resources.
Despite these hardships, she remains determined to create a stable, nurturing home where her children can feel secure and continue to thrive. Support at this critical time will help ease the immediate pressures they are facing and assist this family in rebuilding with dignity and hope.
