We are supporting a woman who is a Stolen Generations Survivor and is living with terminal breast cancer. She has been given only a short time to live.
As her illness progresses, she is experiencing increasing difficulty regulating her body temperature. Heat significantly worsens her symptoms, causing distress, exhaustion, and physical discomfort, and makes it harder for her to rest safely at home.
For her, remaining at home is deeply important. It provides familiarity, dignity, and emotional safety, particularly given her life experiences and the trauma of being removed from family as a child. Being able to stay in her own space during end-of-life care supports both her physical comfort and her emotional wellbeing.
Without adequate cooling, even mild warm weather places her health at risk and significantly reduces her quality of life. Community support at this time would have an immediate and meaningful impact, helping to ease her suffering.
