The client is Level 3 Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Down syndrome.
The client is currently staying with extended family members who are newly arrived in Australia and still adapting to the demands of supporting someone with high and complex support needs. They are committed to providing care but require practical assistance to meet the client’s sensory and comfort needs, particularly overnight when challenges are most significant.
At present, the client is sleeping on a very thin foam that does not provide adequate support or comfort. This is contributing to poor sleep quality, which further affects behaviour, regulation, and overall wellbeing.
The family is urgently seeking a voucher to purchase an appropriate mattress to ensure the client can sleep safely and comfortably.
